Actief ouder worden in Vlaamse steden en gemeenten

Active aging in Flemish cities and villages

To what extent is ‘active ageing’ a well-established practice in Flanders? Research by Pieter Rondelez – November 2012

The Higher Institute for Family Studies reviewed the measures taken by approximately 25 Flemish cities and villages to promote active ageing. We asked these local municipalities how they activate the elderly and how they support them in lifelong learning, informal care, volunteer work, active citizenship and participation in clubs and associations.

This research was conducted in cooperation with VVSG (Flemish associations for cities and towns).

The results of the study were presented at a conference on November 22nd 2012.
